What is the significance of the objects and characters?
This mural shows a Maori girl who is holding an extinct Huia bird in her hand. The girl looks very serious and as if she is trying to communicate with the viewer as she is looking at us. She could possibly be telling us to save New Zealand forests etc. so that no more species get extinct.
What is the significance of the colours used?
We can see four colours in this painting, blue, orange, green and black. All these colours are believed to have different symbolical meanings. Blue- peace, green- nature, orange- warning colour and black- sad.
Why is the location of the artwork important?
This artwork is located in a CBD carpark where hundreds of people can see it everyday. Everyone can see it, no matter if they are rich or poor, street art is for everyone.
